PERRY VLAHOS
Perry Vlahos is an astronomy educator, author and broadcaster. He is also the media liaison officer for the Astronomical Society of Victoria. Having spent thousands of hours studying the heavens under starry skies, he possesses an encyclopaedic knowledge of what is contained therein. He often leads school groups and the general public through tours of the sky, as well as teaching teachers how to teach astronomy and instructing them in the use of telescopes.
When cornered for an answer, he suggests that the most impressive celestial sight he has been fortunate enough to witness was the spectacular Leonid Meteor Shower of 2001. He can vividly remember during that unforgettable November morning seeing bright meteors coming in at a rate of a couple of dozen per minute, traversing the sky from east to west in the blink of an eye! Perry is an enthusiastic observer with a large telescope and is prepared to use it when the universe beckons, anywhere, anytime! |
