Jenny Sharwood

Jenny Sharwood, BSc (Melbourne), Dip Ed (Melbourne), MACE, MRACI-CCHEM, has taught Science, Chemistry and Mathematics across all school systems for thirty years. She is the principal author and Series Editor of Science Edge, the exciting new Nelson Science series to be published in 2004, and of the Nelson Chemistry texts, one of which won the 2000 Australian Award for Excellence in Educational Publishing in the category of a secondary text. She also has authored and co-authored other texts, has been commissioned to undertake several projects for the VCAA, including a comparative study of Chemistry courses in England and across Australia, and has developed many other resources for teachers and students.

Jenny has presented a range of workshops in Victoria and interstate at schools and universities, and statewide and international professional development conferences on Science education, gifted education and co-operative education. Jenny is now also a member of the STAV Council. She has convened many major, highly acclaimed national and statewide residential and day student conferences, one of which was the subject of an ABC television documentary and won the inaugural Frank Woods Award for Social Justice. Two others won Queens Trust Awards. In addition, Jenny has designed and coordinated many innovative and very successful cross-curriculum, community, schools in industry and enrichment and extension programs. Two of the teams she coached and one individual student won the Australian Finals of an international thinking skills competition, Future Problem Solving, and went on to compete in the International Finals in the USA.
