HEATHER FARISH
After teaching chemistry, biology, science and maths for more than ten years in rural Victoria – in between exploring the wide expanses of Australia – Heather has headed to Fiji to share her science expertise at the International School Suva. Of course, teaching in the country means that agriculture and horticulture often form part of the science curriculum, and this is certainly a challenge to beginning teachers, fresh from the city. Fortunately, being a farm girl, Heather could come to the rescue and identify that a calf was a bull, thereby avoiding the teacher’s embarrassment of claiming in front of the class that it was a heifer!
In addition to contributing to the Science Edge series, Heather has contributed to other science resources and written many articles for newspapers and magazines.
